Job description

The Continuous Improvement Engineer will lead, propose and support improvements to enhance the current on-time delivery (OTD), productivity, and profitability of the operation. This position is located in Simi Valley, California. Reporting to Continuous Improvement Site Manager.

Key Accountabilities

  • Lead improvement projects to streamline and simplify processes in alignment with company standards and regulations.
  • Improve key business metrics of OTD, productivity and EBITDA by implementing and supporting lean and continuous improvement activities.
  • Drive the operation to reduce scrap, improve inventory turns, ensure 95% on-time delivery to customer want date, improve and sustain product availability and reduce manufacturing lead times.
  • Promote and facilitate work flow analysis and creating/implementation of standard work to achieve improvement priorities.
  • Drive enhancements in Daily Management, visual management for sustainment of continuous improvement and 5S methodologies.
  • Create and execute comprehensive project plans including management of schedule, budget, procurement, resources, quality, risks, and change control.
  • Design and optimize Layout for manufacturing area.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement by implementing lean manufacturing principles and methodologies such as value stream mapping and TPM.
  • Other duties as required.

Capabilities and Success Factors

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering required with advanced degree preferred.
  • 1-2+ years experience (including internships) in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with assignments in lean manufacturing/continuous improvement.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Hands-on experience implementing Lean in manufacturing and transactional areas.
  • Six Sigma Black Belt preferred; levels below considered.
  • Experience in Aerospace manufacturing desirable.
  • Excellent writing/administrative skills, including computer skills (word processing, graphics, spreadsheet, Minitab, etc.).
  • Demonstrated proficiency in time and project management.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach/train in Lean Manufacturing and Kaizen tools.
  • Team orientation with the ability to influence others.
  • Ability to create and modify facility layouts.

Expected Salary: $70K-$90K a year.
