Experienced Continuous Improvement Engineer (REMOTE)

We are looking for an established Chemical Engineer with industrial chemical production/process engineering experience who will work as a member of a collaborative global continuous improvement team. The individual will be knowledgeable and have demonstrated expertise in the use of various Lean and Six Sigma improvement methodologies to define and quantify both incremental and step change cost savings initiatives. The individual should be capable of both leading teams and teaching others various CI methodologies. Accountable to ensure projects provide defined and measurable savings on time and budget.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Apply chemical engineering principles to understand operation and use lean/six sigma methodologies to identify and quantify improvement opportunities.
  • Work with site to implement operating discipline principles to provide consistent operations via the use of CI methodologies where appropriate.
  • Provide expertise to define project feasibility and conceptual cost analysis along with input of technical risk.
  • Lead technology evaluations where required and provide appropriate data for engineering and capex development.
  • Teach, mentor and lead others in the appropriate use of various continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Technical team representative in project meetings. Use position to influence data driven decisions and adherence to committed cost and project timelines.
  • Work with team to plan development work and can analyze data to reach conclusions for action.
  • Responsible for the management of projects in his area.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelors in Chemical Engineering, MS preferred.
  • 5-10 years of CI experience in a manufacturing environment, required chemical plant experience.
  • Good understanding of procedures and concepts within own chemical engineering production/process discipline.
  • Trained in lean and/or six sigma methodologies.
  • Demonstrated experience in one or more of the following areas; Lean Six Sigma, Operational Discipline, OEE and Six Sigma.
  • Position requires up to 50% travel (domestic and/or international).
  • Ability to take on new challenges and support a culture of continuous improvements and problem solving.
  • Effectiveness working as a member and leader of cross-functional work groups.
  • Ability to review and prioritize work to overcome obstacles and deliver on commitments, and work in a constantly changing environment.
