The Continuous Improvement Engineer is responsible for driving cultural and operational transformation through structured improvement methodologies such as SQCDP (Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, People). The role requires a blend of strategic thinking, hands-on facilitation, and strong interpersonal skills to embed a mindset of autonomous improvement across teams.
Key Responsibilities
SQCDP Deployment: Lead the rollout and adoption of SQCDP boards and KPIs across departments. Tailor KPI structures based on process similarities or differences, ensuring alignment from operational to executive.
Cultural Change Leadership: Foster a culture of openness, trust, and continuous feedback. Build belief in the effectiveness of improvement systems and encourage honest dialogue to overcome resistance.
Process & KPI Alignment: Guide teams in understanding the link between process metrics (e.g., test setup efficiency, rework rates) and business outcomes (e.g., revenue, EBITDA). Emphasize process discipline as the foundation for performance.
Local Expertise & Coaching: Act as a local expert and coach. Provide clarity, training, and support to ensure consistent understanding and execution of improvement initiatives.
Documentation & Follow-through: Maintain clear documentation of improvement steps, dashboards, and progress. Ensure that improvement actions are tracked, reviewed, and refined regularly.
Core Competencies
Strong communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to build trust and alignment across diverse teams.
Deep understanding of continuous improvement frameworks (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma, SQCDP).
Analytical mindset with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
High integrity and resilience in driving change, even in the face of skepticism or cultural inertia.
