Hybrid: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Warren, Michigan, three times per week, at minimum [or other frequencydictated by the business].

The main purpose of the Continuous Improvement Engineer is to eliminate waste of time, money, materials, person-hours, machine time, energy and other resources that do not generate value at our manufacturing sites.
What You'll Do:The position will develop, recommend, and implement changes which will result in the improvement of manufacturing processes and product quality. The ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced manufacturing environment is critical to your success at General Motors. This role is hands on and requires visiting various General Motors sites. This job requires flexibility to travel and take on longer work assignments at certain sites.
Seeks continuous improvement opportunities to improve safety, quality, throughput, and cost through waste elimination and process improvements
Responsible for proposing, requesting funding, and support integrating projects.
Support plant manufacturing teams to identify new projects and report status of current projects.
Create, maintain and analyze Manufacturing Master Schedules in sufficient detail to monitor progress, assess program status, and identify performance issues in a timely manner.
Use critical path methodology and application in network development, analysis, and problem resolution.
Optimize sequence of operations and workflow.
Create crew plans to ensure resources are allocated and utilized effectively.
Create metrics to monitor schedule progress and help identify risk areas.
Perform data analysis to establish shop metrics and tackle complex problems.
Provide Technical support and assistance to manufacturing and maintenance team members, production supervisors and production associates.
Support CI Leads in senior leadership presentations
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):
3+ years’ experience in manufacturing related field; plant floor experience
Experience in analyzing complex data and provide analysis
Proficient oral and written communication skills. Collaborates well in a team environment. Sensitive to customer’s needs, can develop warm relationships.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel skills with the ability to present data visually
Ability to plan; organize and communicate to support executive leadership
Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems
What Can Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):
College degree in manufacturing engineering/industrial engineering or related field
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects with a high level of autonomy and accountability
Functional Knowledge in APS, Power BI; PM&C; Downtime Reporting Tools
Technical knowledge of plant floor system tools
Experience in application of throughput improvement
