Job summary

Maricopa County Department of Public Health is seeking a Continuous Improvement Analyst to lead teams in identifying improvement opportunities, tracking metrics, and applying quality tools to enhance processes and outcomes.

You will support projects under the Public Health Infrastructure and Workforce grant, helping develop standards of work and data-driven improvements that increase efficiency and quality across the organization while aligning with the department’s mission.

Qualifications

  • Two years of professional experience in lean continuous improvement, performance management, quality assurance, program evaluation, and/or project management
  • Bachelor’s degree in public health, business administration, health care administration, or related field
  • Post-secondary education may substitute for one year of the required experience

Responsibilities

  • Implement and manage projects and workgroups across the department that support the department’s goal of creating a culture and practice of quality and organizational excellence
  • Support the use of the department’s performance management system that improves program linkages, reporting, and decision-making using performance indicators
  • Actively seeks out and identifies opportunities to engage teams in problem-solving, performance evaluation, and continuous quality improvement, in support of the grant’s objectives and desired outcomes
  • Provide project management support to assist teams in managing timelines, tasks, performance measures, compliance, and reporting requirements
  • Conduct and facilitate quality improvement activities that include: identifying gaps and opportunities, gathering and analyzing data, identifying root causes, applying lean process improvement tools, implementing action plans, and tracking results
  • Use technology such as Microsoft tools, automation, and AI to develop standards of work to standardize and centralize operational processes and systems that maximize efficiency and collaboration

Salary offers are based on the candidate's equivalent experience and internal equity with other employees within the same job classification. The position is not eligible for overtime compensation.

As a Continuous Improvement Analyst with the Office of Organizational Excellence, you will help Maricopa County Department of Public Health (MCDPH) create a culture of quality by leading and coaching teams in identifying improvement opportunities, assessing performance, tracking metrics, collecting and analyzing data, and using quality improvement methods and tools. We are looking for someone who can think critically, identify gaps and opportunities, and facilitate solutions. You’ll support projects and activities of the Public Health Infrastructure and Workforce grant, helping develop and improve processes, systems, and infrastructure on projects that support the department’s workforce, align with the department’s mission, and increase efficiency and quality across the organization.

  • Please Note: This is a temporary one-year contract assignment.

We Require
  • Two years of professional experience in lean continuous improvement, performance management, quality assurance, program evaluation, and/or project management
  • Bachelor’s degree in public health, business administration, health care administration, or related field
  • Post-secondary education may substitute for one year of the required experience
Other Requirements
  • Within one month of hire, all employees will be required to provide evidence of immunity or receive immunizations for vaccine-preventable illnesses for any position within the Maricopa County Department of Public Health; required immunizations include MMR (measles, mumps, rubella), Tdap (whooping cough and diphtheria), Varicella (chickenpox), and annual Influenza; some positions require a Hepatitis B vaccine and/or a Tuberculosis test
  • Must possess or have reliable transportation at the time of hire

Working Conditions
  • This position is typically office or administrative work and is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions
  • Exerting up to 20 lbs. occasionally, 10 lbs. frequently, or negligible amounts constantly, or requires walking or standing to a significant degree
  • Teleworking is available after the training period
