Job summary

Wyman-Gordon, a premier manufacturer within Precision Castparts, seeks a Buyer to support operations at its Brighton, MI facility. You will issue RFQs, analyze pricing, and collaborate with suppliers to secure cost-effective materials and services.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of procurement experience in manufacturing, strong negotiation skills, and proficiency with MS Office. Some travel (~10%) to meet suppliers is required.

Qualifications

  • Procurement/buyer experience in manufacturing (3–5 years).
  • Strong purchasing procedures knowledge and accountability.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills; proficient MS Office.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and distribute RFQs to qualified suppliers.
  • Initiate and lead cost-saving initiatives.
  • Work with suppliers and analyze pricing to find cost-effective solutions.
  • Purchase services and supplies through approved requisitions and/or reports; utilize spot buys, consignment, and blanket purchase orders.
  • All goods/services negotiated, processed, and expedited per operations requirements.
  • Reconcile accounts payable weekly to ensure accurate receipts.

Job description

Wyman‑Gordon is a premier manufacturer of nickel‑based extruded powder alloys, serving critical military and commercial turbine applications worldwide. Based in Brighton, MI, our state‑of‑the‑art facility features advanced vacuum‑melt atomizers, specialized lathes, and comprehensive billet processing and certification equipment. Buyer

Buyer facilitates the timely purchase of supplies, services, and outside sub‑contracting services for operations. Position is supportive to all areas of operations

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and distribute RFQs to qualified suppliers
  • Initiate and lead cost‑saving initiatives
  • Work with suppliers and analyze pricing in order to find cost effective solutions
  • Purchase all services and supplies, including Factory Stores, through approved requisition and/or Factory Stores order report utilizing spot buy purchase orders and/or consignment and blanket purchase orders.
  • All goods/services are negotiated, processed and expedited in conjunction with operations requirements.
  • Reconcile A/P weekly to insure accurate/receipts.
  • Enter all Purchase Orders into system and maintain files with backup information
  • Expedite and track orders as necessary
  • Up to 10% travel in order to meet with suppliers
Qualifications
  • A minimum 3‑5 years of procurement / buyer experience in a manufacturing setting
  • Proven track record of accountability and achievement.
  • Thorough knowledge of purchasing procedures and practices
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Must have strong computer skill (MS Excel, Power Point, Word)
