Position Summary:

Democracy Forward is seeking Content Strategists to help tell the story of our work across social platforms, grow our supporter base, and advance the fight for democracy. The role is part of the Policy & Public Affairs team, reporting to the Director of Digital Strategy.

We are looking for someone who can craft compelling narratives across platforms and translate complex legal work into accessible stories. Responsibilities include managing our social media presence and developing a long-term content strategy that aligns with our values and voice.

This is a full-time position based in Washington, DC. While remote work is permitted, regular in-office presence of at least eight days per month (about twice a week) is required.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop platform-specific content strategies to engage and activate audiences.
• Manage daily operations and posting schedules across platforms like Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, Bluesky, Facebook, YouTube, and LinkedIn.
• Lead growth initiatives on emerging video-first platforms and create short-form video content.
• Write social media copy consistent with our brand voice, including updates, explainers, and storytelling.
• Oversee community engagement, responding to supporters and opinion leaders to build relationships.
• Track and analyze social media metrics to optimize content and report on impact.
• Maintain knowledge of our work and collaborate with experts to communicate their efforts effectively.

Qualifications:

• For Content Strategist: 2–4 years experience in social media management, preferably in mission-driven or advocacy settings.
• For Senior Content Strategist: 5–7 years experience, including leading digital content strategies and managing social media in high-stakes environments.
• Ability to craft engaging messaging strategies and familiarity with best practices on platforms like TikTok and Instagram Reels.
• Experience creating video content, including scripting, filming, and editing, is preferred.
• Proficiency with analytics tools to evaluate performance.
• Collaborative, proactive, and strategic mindset with a desire to grow platforms and test new formats.
• Strong interpersonal skills, commitment to diversity and inclusion, and ability to work across diverse teams.

The salary range is $60,000–$80,000 for Content Strategist and $90,000–$110,000 for Senior Content Strategist, plus benefits. Compensation depends on experience.
