Job summary

YouShouldBeHair is seeking a creator to shoot and edit 45 short-form assets for launch across TikTok, Instagram Reels, website, and email. Three shoot days will occur in our New Jersey studio (Essex County).

Assets will be delivered 9:16 vertically with raw footage and project files included. Studio is provided with MUA, product, and brand context. The role focuses on translating trendy content into YSBH’s editorial style for strong performance.

Qualifications

• Beauty, hair, fashion, or e-commerce experience.
• Strong short-form portfolio showing content that performed.
• Create shot lists and production plans.
• Establish a consistent visual language across the batch.
• Direct framing, movement, and product moments as needed.
• Capture enough footage for multiple concepts and variations.
• Experience creating content with organic/paid performance in mind.

Responsibilities

• Identify ways to turn a single shoot into multiple concepts.
• Build content around product benefits, styling, transformation, and lifestyle.
• Track current TikTok/Instagram/YouTube Shorts formats for relevance.
• Shoot, edit, and package all 45 assets for their platforms.
• Prioritize strong openings, pacing, and retention.
• Keep editing minimal, editor ial, and platform-native.
• Create variations of hooks for testing.

YouShouldBeHair (YSBH) is a specialty beauty retailer for women who wear extensions year-round.

Extensions and hair health were never meant to be separate conversations. We exist at the intersection of chic, trend-forward styling and intentional hair health, giving our customer premium extensions, handpicked hair care, and the right tools for how she actually wears, maintains, and protects her hair.

Our strongest content is clean, studio-style, editorial, and product-focused. We’re looking for a producer who can translate that aesthetic into a cohesive batch of short-form launch content while understanding what makes content perform.

THE PROJECT

We're launching a new product line this fall and need a creator to shoot + edit our signature launch content across TikTok, Instagram Reels, website, and email.

• 45 finished short-form video assets via iPhone or professional camera
• 3 shoot days in our NJ studio - Essex County, NJ
• Up to 8 hours per shoot day
• Vertical 9:16
• Raw footage and project files included with final delivery

The content should combine current social trends with YSBH's established content style.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Develop concepts, hooks, angles, and formats before production
• Identify ways to turn a single shoot into multiple content concepts
• Build content around product benefits, education, styling, transformation, and lifestyle
• Track current TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube Shorts formats and identify what is relevant for YSBH
• Recognize concepts with potential for paid social
• Shoot, Edit and package all 45 assets for their intended platforms
• Prioritize strong openings, pacing, and retention
• Keep the editing minimal, polished, editorial, and platform-native
• Create variations of hooks or openings when useful for testing

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

• Beauty, hair, fashion, or e-commerce experience
• Strong short-form portfolio with examples of content that performed
• Create shot lists and production plans
• Establish a consistent visual language across the content batch
• Direct framing, movement, product moments, and talent when needed
• Capture enough footage to support multiple concepts and variations
• Experience in beauty, hair, fashion, lifestyle, or another visually driven consumer category
• Experience creating content with organic and/or paid performance in mind

BONUS

• Experience repurposing organic content for paid social
• Experience producing high-volume content from a single shoot
• Experience using performance insights to inform future creative

COMPENSATION

Rates should include production, editing, and final asset delivery.

OWNERSHIP & USAGE

YSBH will own all content produced through the project, including final edits, raw footage, and project files.

Content may be used across YSBH's organic social, paid advertising, website, email, and other marketing channels.
