Job summary

The New York Times is seeking a Technical Product Manager II to own strategy for content metadata, attribution, taxonomy, and a knowledge graph. You will lead roadmaps with editors, data scientists, and engineers, balancing editorial needs with AI platform goals across brands.

The role focuses on building centralized metadata platforms, collaborating across Content Data Products, Partnerships, and editorial teams to enable next‑gen search and discovery while upholding journalistic standards.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of technical product management, metadata architecture, or related CMS/enterprise information systems experience.
  • Experience launching and managing complex software products.
  • Experience communicating complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • 3+ years working with engineering teams.
  • Strong SQL knowledge and relational database understanding.

Responsibilities

  • Own and drive product strategy and roadmap for content metadata and taxonomy, including knowledge graph work.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to map archival data structures and close metadata gaps.
  • Gather requirements and prioritize features with engineering, editorial/taxonomy teams, and AI Platforms & Products.
  • Communicate product vision and progress to partners and stakeholders.
  • Lead the product development lifecycle from conception to launch, ensuring timely delivery and quality.
  • Support and uphold journalistic independence and the mission of truthful reporting.
