Job description

  • You're a hands-on content creator: you take a video from idea to script to shoot to editing direction to thumbnail to posting on YouTube, write blog posts and case studies, produce web copy, then keep testing until it works. You'll partner closely with our Social Media Specialist, who owns the channel strategy and community side, and with our Product Marketing Specialist on technical and product-focused content, so the content you create finds the right audience and builds toward real growth. If you love telling stories, creating engaging videos, and producing content that helps real people solve real problems, you'll feel right at home here.
About Us
  • At RPS, we're solar-powered and people-powered! Every pump that leaves our warehouse means one less generator or power line, and cleaner, safer access to water. It supports healthier animals, plants, and people while boosting the resilience, independence, and self-sufficiency of rural families and communities.
  • We're mission-driven, impact-focused, and yes, we're as cool as it sounds. We help folks across the country pump water sustainably, from off-grid ranches to remote homesteads. We're a team of tinkerers, builders, customer champions, and adventurers who take pride in solving real-world problems. No corporate fluff, just honest work that matters.
The Job
  • We're looking for a Content Marketing Specialist to join our team in Woodland, CA. Our customers include ranchers, farmers, off-gridders, pond enthusiasts, and even national forests, and we ship pumps to all 50 states, so a lot of different people are engaging with our content.
Essential job duties:
  • Write and produce content - blog posts, case studies, video, and web copy - supporting brand and demand generation goals.
  • Maintain and execute the master editorial content calendar across web, email, and social channels (the Social Media Specialist owns day-to-day scheduling and posting execution within social specifically).
  • Collaborate with the Product Marketing Specialist on technical and product-focused content, and with Product Development/Product Specialists to build the messaging and campaigns for new product launches.
  • Translate technical product info (solar pumps, water systems, plumbing) into clear, easy-to-understand content
  • Apply SEO, AEO and GEO best practices in content creation and optimization for blog posts and web copy (keyword research, on-page optimization)
  • Repurpose core long-form content (blog posts, video, case studies) into social, email, and web-ready assets for efficiency - the Social Media Specialist then adapts and schedules those assets natively per platform.
  • Support development of content and materials for trade shows and events. Capture lifestyle and product photos and videos, often on iPhone, for campaigns
  • Review and collaborate on email copy and storytelling for email campaigns; you won't have to set up the journeys yourself, but you'll bring exceptional copywriting skills and a strong sense of calls to action, urgency, and engagement
  • Design and run an A/B testing strategy for ad and organic creative, testing hooks, thumbnails, and formats, then acting on what wins in partnership with Social Media Specialist
  • Work closely with Product Development and our Product Marketing Specialists to launch new products, building the content, messaging, and campaigns that bring a new product to market
  • Produce the supporting content for each launch and partner with Social Media Specialist to push it out across every format: website, emails, long-form YouTube, short-form video (Reels, Shorts), photos, and posts
  • Own and manage our UGC library and relationships: sourcing, coordinating, and directing creators to keep a steady pipeline of authentic content
  • Help organize material and filming for our YouTube affiliates and UGC creators
  • Organize and maintain our content libraries
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Marketing, Product Development, Customer Support, Engineering, Warehouse, and Sales teams
  • Comfortable shooting content in outdoor and agricultural settings, including farms and ranches; must be able to lift up to 25 lbs and work in variable weather conditions
What You Bring
  • You're excited about work that directly impacts people's lives and our planet. Whether you're tech-savvy, customer-obsessed, mechanically inclined, or all three, you bring curiosity, team collaboration, and a strong sense of purpose to the table.
You might be a great fit if you:
  • Bachelor's degree and/or 1 to 3 years of content creation, social media, and/or marketing experience
  • Have content creation experience, writing blog posts, building web pages, designing content and some basic filming experience in making product videos or your own videos for platforms like YouTube, TikTok, or Instagram, and are comfortable filming on an iPhone; we're a low-drag filming operation, and it works really well
  • Have hands-on video editing skills and can edit in-house (CapCut, Premiere, or similar), turning raw footage into polished content yourself
  • Bring design skills (Canva) for social graphics and marketing assets
  • Have experience developing content for paid ads (YouTube and/or paid social); this one is expected, not a bonus
  • Have a background or interest in ecommerce product marketing for a technical product; you'll work hand-in-hand with Product Development and Product Marketing Specialists to launch new products, so translating technical products for a real-world audience matters
  • Can tell a story and simplify technical topics into clear, easy-to-understand content
  • Have excellent marketing copywriting skills; copy that’s to the point and impactful
  • Can leverage AI tastefully and in line with our brand guidelines, using it to boost workflow efficiency and spark ideation without losing the authentic voice our audience connects with
  • Must have a portfolio to share, with examples of video or social content
  • Bonus points if you have experience with Shopify, WordPress, affiliate/UGC programs, or DTC ecommerce
  • Extra bonus if you have a background in outdoor living, ranching, or agriculture
  • Can troubleshoot creatively and think like a customer
  • Believe in rural resilience
  • Want to be part of a team where mission isn't a buzzword; it's the reason
Why You'll Love Working Here
  • Comprehensive Benefits: 401K match, health care, paid holidays, PTO, sick leave, and pet insurance.
  • Unique Perks: Off-grid and volunteer PTO days, triple-your-impact donation matching, and AAA Roadside Assistance membership.
  • Vibrant Culture: Unlimited coffee, regular parties, delicious food, karaoke nights, and a fun-loving team spirit.
  • Work-Life Balance: We operate Monday through Friday, keeping weekends sacred for rest and family time.
  • Farm Fresh Goodness: Enjoy our company garden, and meet our resident chickens and ducks; fresh veggies and eggs are on us!

We believe in rewarding work that matters. We know great candidates sometimes don't tick every box. If you're excited about the role and our mission, we'd still love to hear from you.
