Rockingham County is seeking a part-time Container Site Attendant to help maintain and operate refuse container and recycling sites. Physical requirements: This is operative work requiring the exertion of up to and exceeding 50 pounds of force occasionally and a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to move objects.
Job Summary
To provide the maintenance and operation of the satellite refuse container and recycling sites.
Essential Job Functions
An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential duties:
•Assist residents in proper placement of refuse and recyclables by giving directions and lending aid when necessary
•Monitor all activity on property for the safety of all
•Help customers unload, carry, sort trash and recyclables
•Check bins for proper separation and placement to utilize space for maximum fill
•Help direct/stop traffic while truck drivers are pulling compactors and bins
•Clean grates in the oil bins
•Maintain the site by collecting and properly disposing of loose paper and other refuse, and
performing other general maintenance tasks
•Sort and separate recyclables in their proper receptacles

•Attend provided safety training
•Prepared to work in inclement weather to assist in snow/ice removal as needed
•Reliable transportation
•Regular work attendance is required
•Good interpersonal skills
