Job summary

Blaze Credit Union in Saint Paul, MN, is seeking a Consumer Loan Officer to help members access a wide range of loan products and services. You will gather applicant information, assist with the application, and input data into Meridian Link while delivering exceptional member service.

In this role you will analyze debt-to-income and loan-to-value ratios, answer loan questions, cross-sell products, and support cross-department referrals to drive Blaze’s growth and member satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1–2 years of financial services experience.
• Minimum High School degree or equivalent.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Computer skills including Microsoft products.

Responsibilities

• Gathers background information on loan applicants and inputs into Meridian Link.
• Assists members with the loan application process to ensure completeness of information.
• Collect any required fees associated with the loan transaction.
• Calculates debt-to-income ratios.
• Calculates loan-to-value ratios.
• Assists members and employees with questions regarding lending products and services.
• Answers incoming phone calls about potential and current loans.
• Actively cross sells ancillary loan products.
• Actively pursues auto refinances.
• Actively manages cross-department referrals per CU guidelines.
• Actively cross sells credit union products and services for cross-departmental referrals.

Job description

Consumer Loan Officers work with members to provide them with a wide variety of consumer loan products. This position is responsible for recommending and cross-servicing financial products and services to advance Blaze’s growth objectives. Consumer Loan Officer’s must also exemplify superior member service and build positive member relationships. This position also acts as a resource to the entire organization and members by displaying knowledge and expertise in the financial services field.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

• Gathers background information on loan applicants and inputs into Meridian Link.
• Assists members with the loan application process to ensure completeness of information.
• Collect any required fees associated with the loan transaction.
• Calculates debt-to-income ratios.
• Calculates loan-to-value ratios.
• Assists members and employees with questions regarding lending products and services.
• Answers incoming phone calls about potential and current loans.
• Actively cross sells ancillary loan products.
• Actively pursues auto refinances.
• Actively manages cross-department referrals per CU guidelines.
• Actively cross sells credit union products and services for cross-departmental referrals.

• Comply with applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control

Requirements

Experience/Education/Certifications/Licenses

• Minimum 1-2 years of similar or related financial services experience.
• Minimum High School degree or equivalent.

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks.
• Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.

Communication Skills

Ability to proactively respond to members/employees to problem solve based on guidelines; written communications are based on templates but can be modified.

Physical Requirements

Ability to sit and stand; answer calls; operate computer; interact with internal employees and members on the phone; travel to designated offices; lift up to 20 lbs.

Weekly schedule includes Saturday hours.

We are committed to providing salary ranges for all open positions. Please note that the specific compensation for this role will be determined based on your experience, qualifications, location, and internal equity considerations. The salary range for this position is: $25.20-31.50/hour. This range reflects the base salary for this position, however, there are additional incentive opportunities. We have other benefits associated with this position which include: low-cost medical (as low as $20 a paycheck), dental insurance, vision insurance, quarterly bonuses, generous vacation and sick time hours, paid leave options, up to 6% 401k contribution, and tuition reimbursement.
