Job summary

Blaze Credit Union in Saint Paul, MN is seeking a Mortgage Loan Originator to initiate and grow our mortgage portfolio by actively networking in the community and serving members. You will seek out and process mortgage loans, build relationships with members, realtors, and building professionals, and conduct pre-qualification interviews to prepare complete loan packages.

This role requires outside sales activity and timely follow-up.

Qualifications

• Minimum high school degree or equivalent.
• 2-3 years related financial experience.
• Must obtain or possess an MLO qualifier (registration).
• Mortgage sales experience is a plus.

Role: Initiate mortgage loans by effectively networking in the community and increasing the credit union’s share of the mortgage market.

Major Duties And Responsibilities

• Seeks out and processes mortgage loans.
• Establish and maintain professional business relationships with members, realtors, and building professionals.
• Spend at least half of time outside office actively pursuing sales leads.
• Make sales calls to potential and existing members to retain current business and develop new mortgage loans.

• Comply with applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control

Requirements

Experience/Education/Certifications/Licenses

• Minimum high School degree or equivalent.
• Minimum 2-3 years similar or related financial experience.
• Required to obtain or posses a Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO) qualifier (i.e. registration number)

Demonstrated Knowledge

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Computer skills including Microsoft products.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks.
• Knowledge of encompass a plus.
• Previous sales experience a plus.

Communication Skills

Ability to proactively respond to members/employees to problem solve based on guidelines; written communications are based on templates but can be modified.

Physical Requirements

Ability to sit and stand; answer calls; operate computer; interact with internal employees and members on the phone; travel to designated offices; lift up to 20 lbs.

The salary range for this position is: $41,600 base (paid hourly) + monthly incentive plan for additional earning potential.
