Job summary

Straits Area Federal Credit Union is seeking a loan officer to build member relationships, assess creditworthiness, and promote loan products. You will evaluate applications, collect required documents, and coordinate with underwriters to close loans.

The role requires strong communication, negotiation, and multitasking skills, with a focus on confidentiality and meeting monthly targets.

Responsibilities

• Process loan and visa applications by evaluating information and documentation.
• Consult with members about lending needs to help them achieve goals.
• Evaluate loan applications and requests for additional documents.
• Prepare notes and submit timely applications to underwriters.
• Collect closing information needed for timely closings.
• Assist customers by answering questions and responding to requests.
• Maintain confidentiality of loan information.
• Promote loan products and help meet monthly goals.
• Maintain knowledge of lending regulations and current rates.

Purpose of a loan officer

Duties of a loan officer

• Processes loan and/or visa applications by evaluating applicant information and documentation either in person or electronically.

• Consultwith members about their lending needs to help them achieve their goal while analyzing their credit worthiness.

• Evaluateloan applications and documentation and requests any other documentation that may be needed in making a solid loan decision.

• Preparenotes regarding the loan application and submittimely and accurate loan applications to the underwriter(s) for review.

• Collect closing information that is needed for the closer to be able to close the loan in a timely manner.

• Helpcustomers by answering questions and responding to requests.

• Maintainmember confidence by keeping loan information confidential.

• Promote loan products and meet monthly loan goals.

• Maintain knowledge of lending regulations, the economy and rates
