Job summary

Straits Area Federal Credit Union in Tuscarora Township seeks a Loan Officer to establish relationships with members, identify their needs, and offer solutions. You will evaluate loan applications, consult with members, and ensure all necessary documentation is completed accurately.

The ideal candidate has strong negotiation and communication skills, is able to work under pressure, and is committed to maintaining member confidence and confidentiality. This role comes with competitive pay and opportunities for advancement.

Responsibilities

• Process loan applications by evaluating applicant information and documentation.
• Consult with members about lending needs while analyzing credit worthiness.
• Evaluate loan applications and request additional documentation as needed.
• Prepare notes regarding loan applications and submit them to underwriter(s).
• Collect closing information necessary for timely loan closure.
• Answer customer questions and respond to requests.
• Maintain loan information confidentiality.
• Promote loan products and meet monthly loan goals.
• Stay updated on lending regulations, economy, and rates.

Purpose of a loan officer

Duties of a loan officer

• Process loan and/or visa applications by evaluating applicant information and documentation either in person or electronically.
• Consultwith members about their lending needs to help them achieve their goal while analyzing their credit worthiness.
• Evaluateloan applications and documentation and requests any other documentation that may be needed in making a solid loan decision.
• Preparenotes regarding the loan application and submittimely and accurate loan applications to the underwriter(s) for review.
• Collect closing information that is needed for the closer to be able to close the loan in a timely manner.
• Helpcustomers by answering questions and responding to requests.
• Maintainmember confidence by keeping loan information confidential.
• Promote loan products and meet monthly loan goals.
• Maintain knowledge of lending regulations, the economy and rates.
