Job summary

Navy Exchange Service Command (NEX) Norfolk is seeking a Sales Associate for Consumables. You'll be the face of our brand, assisting customers, highlighting products, and delivering professional service. You will learn product knowledge, upsell where appropriate, and use the POS system to process transactions efficiently.

Strong communication and customer-service skills are essential. Retail experience is a plus, and a high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.

Qualifications

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Retail experience preferred but not required.
Ability to read, write and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
Ability to communicate with customers, peers and management.
Basic math functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.

Responsibilities

Proactively engage and connect with customers.
Assist customers and help them recognize needs for products and services.
Direct customers to merchandise and inform them about events and promotions.
Maintain store appearance and organization.
Cross-sell and upsell products; know the layout of the store.
Process transactions using the POS; handle cash, discounts, gift cards and payments.
Complete paperwork, reports, and reconciliations.
Be dependable and adhere to the assigned work schedule.
