Job summary

Ladders is seeking a Consulting Engineer Systems to shape enterprise technology direction across a broad portfolio of mission-critical platforms. The role requires leading architecture, integration, and engineering standards to improve reliability, scalability, and reuse in a complex environment.

You will partner with strategy, architecture, and engineering stakeholders to support informed investment decisions and measurable technical improvements. Remote-US based; visa sponsorship not available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline with 16 years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree with 14 years, or a PhD with 11 years.
• Experience as a chief architect or equivalent technical leader for large-scale software portfolios.
• Proven track record architecting and delivering complex solutions across multiple domains.
• Expertise in modern application technologies, including cloud platforms, microservices, and data platforms.
• Strong understanding of modern DevOps practices, particularly automated testing.
• Experience leading cross-functional technical teams and mentoring engineers and architects.
• Exceptional communication skills for conveying complex concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture and engineering for approximately 190 enterprise platforms and applications.
• Own the technical performance and health of platforms, ensuring reliability and scalability.
• Define and maintain enterprise technical strategy and integration patterns for the portfolio.
• Provide independent technical authority for major platform investments and design decisions.
• Drive platform rationalization and reuse to reduce duplication and improve integration.
• Partner with strategy and architecture organizations to apply disciplined engineering standards.
• Define and track key technical performance metrics to drive continuous improvement.

For our client, we are seeking a Consulting Engineer Systems to join the team of a leader in the Aerospace & Defense space. This role will help shape enterprise technology direction across a broad portfolio of mission‑critical platforms and applications in a highly complex environment. You will provide technical leadership on architecture, integration, and engineering standards while helping drive reliability, scalability, and reuse across the portfolio. The position requires close partnership with strategy, architecture, and engineering stakeholders to support sound investment decisions and measurable technical improvement.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $192,800 – $289,200 annually
