Job Description

SUMMARY The Consultant is responsible for the primary execution role on Motive Power projects. The position requires skills in managing cross‑functional, multi‑location project teams using plan‑based and/or cutting‑edge project management methodologies. The position’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to, creating and maintaining project plans, schedules, assessing & mitigating risks, facilitating teams, and providing timely and accurate status reports and other communications to management and team members.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan / Organize
    • Support the Motive Power Engagement Manager and other team leads to define the business solution based on the client’s specific needs
    • Create and maintain MS Project plans -- Define Tasks, Utilize Work Breakdown Structures, Predecessors/Successors, Level Resources, Set Baselines
    • Develop, support, and maintain other project progress tracking tools as required
    • Measure progress to approved MS Project schedules
    • Track project metrics against the approved MS Project schedule(s)
    • Analyze / report on scheduling accuracy
  • Execute
    • Produce, review, and gain approval on specific deliverables for each engagement per the MS Project plan and the Statement of Work.
    • Provide pro‑active, timely, and bullet‑proof direct analysis support to the Engagement Manager or other Motive Power team leads using MS Project, Excel, and PowerPoint as required.
  • Communicate
    • Report to Motive Power and client management as required – prepare and present timely and actionable updates
    • Report to Core & Extended Team members – ensure all applicable cross‑functional personnel are informed as to where the project is in the project lifecycle, and their responsibilities. Tools: minutes, action registers, risk logs, milestones and ad hoc status reports
  • Manage Risk
    • Facilitate and produce engagement Risk Assessments
    • Formulate and implement Risk Mitigations and Controls
    • Support Motive Power team leadership in identifying, resolving, and tracking issues
    • Escalate risks and issues in order to find ways to keep agreed‑upon schedules on track
  • Facilitate
    • Facilitate daily/weekly focused and cross‑functional meetings
    • Keep / communicate minutes, decisions, actions
    • Follow up on team member accountability to actions
    • Notify leadership of appropriate change control
Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Background in program/project management including maintaining schedules & interfaces with cross‑functional team members throughout the project life cycle.

Strong Communications skills – both verbal and written – to all levels of personnel & management.

Strong Interpersonal, Influence, & Consulting skills – the Analyst has accountability for other peoples project deliverables, yet these people do not report into the Analyst.

Ability to self teach when necessary.

Ability to break down complex business information, and apply rational planning for sound business decisions.

Experience developing process documentation.

Excellent time management, organizational, problem-solving skills.

Ability to prioritize and juggle many projects at once.

Strong commitment to quality, attention to detail, and proven ability to meet deadlines.

SW Tool Proficiency: MS Project Server 2010/2007/2003, MS Office Applications, and Visio.
