Job summary

Karvo Companies is seeking an experienced Construction / Underground Utilities Estimator to join our growing Ohio team. You will prepare competitive estimates for underground utilities and heavy civil projects, review plans and contract docs, and conduct quantity takeoffs for sewer, waterline, and site work.

Ideal candidates bring 3+ years of estimating experience, proficiency in HCSS Estimating and MS Office, and strong organizational and analytical skills.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of estimating experience in heavy civil construction or underground utilities.
• Strong ability to read and interpret plans, specs and bid documents.
• Proficient with HCSS Estimating Software and Microsoft Office.
• Excellent organizational, communication and analytical skills.
• Detail-oriented with ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate, competitive estimates for underground utilities and heavy civil projects.
• Review plans, specs, and contracts to develop complete estimates.
• Takeoffs for sewer, waterline, excavation, site work, and related tasks.
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes.
• Develop project budgets and cost analyses.
• Collaborate with project managers and field staff during bidding.
• Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits as needed.
• Identify value engineering opportunities and project risks.

What You’ll Do

• Prepare accurate and competitive estimates for underground utility and heavy civil construction projects.
• Review plans, specifications, and contract documents to develop complete project estimates.
• Perform quantity takeoffs for sanitary sewer, storm sewer, waterline, excavation, grading, and related site work.
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes.
• Develop project budgets and cost analysis.
• Collaborate with project managers, field personnel, and leadership throughout the bidding process.
• Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits as needed.
• Identify value engineering opportunities and potential project risks.

What We’re Looking For

• 3+ years of estimating experience in heavy civil construction or underground utilities.
• Strong knowledge of underground utility installation, earthwork, and site development.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and bid documents.
• Experience with HCSS Estimating Software and Microsoft Office.

• Experience with bid projects on ODOT, City or County
