Primary Responsibilities:
- Review and interpret reports from the field (e.g., concrete, soils, asphalt testing reports), and communicate directly with clients, senior project managers, and field staff to relay key project information and data.
- Interpret construction documents (plans and specs), as well as other technical specifications, and relay pertinent information to field technicians, clients, and senior project managers.
- Assist in solving problems encountered by technicians in the field, delegate tasks, and provide training when necessary.
- Manage and perform in-house laboratory testing efforts related to soils, concrete, and asphalt (typically per ASTM or PennDOT specs).
- Help prepare and send out the daily schedule of technicians’ assignments for the following day.
- Prepare, review, and document field activities, observations, and testing on construction projects, ensuring conformance with project plans and specifications.
- Occasionally perform site visits for meetings, testing, or technician training.
- Develop and maintain a local client base, including soliciting new work and clients.
- Prepare and submit bids/proposals, attend pre-bid meetings, and interact with clients.
- Work hours are typically Monday through Friday, 8 A.M. to 5 P.M.
Experience:
- Salary varies based on experience.
- Encouraged to apply: P.E.s, E.I.T.s, PMPs, and MPMs, though licensure is not required.
- Prior construction or engineering experience is strongly preferred.
- Dependable, enthusiastic, detail-oriented, and team-oriented, capable of working in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to interpret project plans, drawings, and specifications, and to anticipate construction issues.
- Provide written documentation of construction observations and materials.
- Maintain accurate construction records.
- Good math, written, and oral communication skills.
- Ability to manage own time with minimal supervision.
Qualifications and Certifications:
- NECEPT bituminous and concrete certifications.
- ACI concrete field certification.
- NICET Level 2 or higher in Highway Construction or Construction Materials Testing.
- Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Proficiency with computers and office software (Word, Excel, Outlook).
