Job summary

MoDOT's St. Louis District Office (Construction Department) is seeking a construction technician to provide semi-skilled technical support for engineering projects under moderate supervision.

The role includes basic construction tests (air, slump, moisture, density) and assisting in plans, change orders, and contractor payment estimates. You will maintain records, enter project data into computer systems, and help ensure adherence to department standards while supporting safety and efficiency on

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED/HiSET required.
• OSHA 10-Hour Certification required within 90 days.
• Successful completion of a work simulation examination and a medical-physical examination.

Responsibilities

• Performs basic construction tests such as air, slump, moisture, compaction, aggregate gradation, and density; reports results to supervisor.
• Performs measurements, computations, or other work in preparing final plans, change orders, and contractor payment estimates.
• Assists in inspection of bituminous and portland cement concrete plants and/or grading, base, bituminous or concrete paving.
• Maintains records and prepares reports pertaining to inspections; keeps supervisor informed of activities or unusual conditions; ensures projects meet department standards.
• Enters and records information regarding construction projects into computer programs.

• Job may require operation of vehicles to plow snow and spread ice control materials.
