Actalent is seeking a Construction Superintendent for community solar projects in Illinois. You will oversee day-to-day on-site construction, coordinate electrical and civil subcontractors, and ensure safety, quality, and schedule adherence on each site.
Based from project trailers with centralized logistics, you will report to the Senior Construction Manager, develop look-ahead schedules, and maintain thorough daily documentation while upholding a strong safety culture across field teams.
This role oversees day-to-day construction activities for community solar projects across Illinois, typically ranging from 1 to 2.5 MW in size. The Construction Superintendent manages on-site operations from the project trailer, coordinates subcontractors, enforces safety and regulatory standards, and ensures the project stays on schedule and within quality expectations. This is a project-based contract opportunity with the potential to gain significant experience in the renewable energy industry and the possibility of future long-term engagement.
The role is based on active solar construction sites across central and northwest Illinois, with work centered around a dedicated company trailer on each project. The environment includes multiple electrical and civil subcontractors working simultaneously, creating a dynamic and fast-paced field setting. Standard hours are Monday through Friday, generally 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., averaging about 40 hours per week. Overtime must be approved by a supervisor in advance and is not expected to be common in this position. Dress code consists of typical construction attire—jeans and a T-shirt—combined with appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required on site. The projects offer hands-on exposure to commercial-scale solar construction, modern renewable energy technologies, and a collaborative culture focused on safety, quality, and professional growth.
