Job summary

Job description

Our client is seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent to lead field operations for multifamily construction, renovations, and interior fit-out projects throughout the Philadelphia market.

The Superintendent will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the construction site, ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with the plans, specifications, and quality standards.

The ideal candidate has a strong background with a General Contractor and hands-on experience managing multifamily, apartment renovations, commercial interiors, tenant improvements, and complex occupied or phased construction environments.

Key Responsibilities

Field Operations

  • Lead and manage all day-to-day field operations for multifamily and interior construction projects.
  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise construction activities from mobilization through final completion.
  • Develop and maintain short-term and three-week look-ahead schedules in coordination with the Project Manager.
  • Coordinate daily activities among subcontractors, vendors, inspectors, and other project stakeholders.
  • Establish project priorities and ensure crews have the information, materials, and resources necessary to maintain production.
  • Monitor manpower, productivity, sequencing, and overall jobsite progress.
  • Identify potential schedule conflicts and develop solutions before they impact the project.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional jobsite.

Subcontractor Management

  • Direct and coordinate subcontractors and trade partners on a daily basis.
  • Conduct subcontractor coordination meetings and daily huddles.
  • Clearly communicate schedule expectations, quality standards, safety requirements, and project priorities.
  • Hold subcontractors accountable for manpower, productivity, schedule commitments, and workmanship.
  • Review subcontractor work for compliance with drawings, specifications, and approved submittals.
  • Coordinate inspections and ensure deficiencies are corrected promptly.
  • Develop strong, professional relationships with subcontractors and vendors.

Schedule Management

  • Develop and maintain detailed short-term and look-ahead schedules.
  • Track progress against the overall project schedule.
  • Identify critical-path activities and potential delays.
  • Coordinate long-lead materials and deliveries with the Project Manager and procurement team.
  • Re-sequence work when necessary to maintain project momentum.
  • Communicate schedule risks and recovery plans to project leadership.
  • Drive subcontractors to meet committed milestones.
