Job summary

GH Engage, a well-established NYC Metro General Contractor, seeks a Construction Superintendent to own field operations on ground-up projects from mobilization through closeout.

The role requires a hands-on field leader with a GC background and a track record of delivering ground-up multifamily and/or commercial projects in the NYC metro market. Strong communication with executives, subs, and unions is essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years' experience as a Superintendent on ground-up projects valued at $15M+.
• GC background required — developer-side experience alone will not be considered.
• Proven experience delivering ground-up multifamily and/or commercial projects in the NYC metro market.
• Strong understanding of NYC construction operations, logistics and code requirements.

Responsibilities

• Direct day-to-day coordination of subcontractors to ensure quality work aligned with the project schedule
• Develop, document and communicate field work plans and changes
• Maintain a thorough understanding of contract documents to plan ahead and anticipate issues before they arise
• Verify subcontractors obtain all necessary permits for construction activities
• Act as primary safety representative on-site and enforce quality control policies
• Create, manage and update the project schedule; develop contingency plans as needed
• Communicate schedule status, updates and changes to the project team and trade contractors
• Plan, coordinate and manage jobsite logistics
• Lead regular contractor meetings and resolve jurisdictional disputes
• Establish credibility among owners, trade contractors and unions through a fair, trustworthy site environment

Job description

We are partnering with an established NYC Metro General Contractor with a long-standing track record delivering ground-up multifamily, commercial, and institutional projects throughout New York City and the surrounding metro area.

With a strong pipeline of upcoming work, they are seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent to take ownership of field operations on ground-up projects from mobilization through closeout.

This role is ideal for a hands-on field leader from a General Contractor background who has run ground-up projects cradle to grave and is comfortable owning the site from day one.

The successful candidate will act as the primary field authority on-site, working closely with Project Executives, Project Managers, subcontractors, architects, and ownership to keep projects on schedule, on budget, and to spec in demanding NYC job-site conditions.

Requirements

• Minimum 10 years' experience as a Superintendent on ground-up projects valued at $15M or more
• General Contractor (GC) background required — developer-side experience alone will not be considered
• Proven experience delivering ground-up multifamily and/or commercial projects in the NYC metro market
• BS or MS in Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent field experience
• Strong understanding of NYC construction operations, logistics and code requirements
• Working knowledge of Procore, AutoCAD and Microsoft Office
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently and lead a multi-trade site team
