CONSTRUCTION SITE SUPERINTENDENT

Large-Scale Commercial Construction Projects

Vezandio Contracting Corp. is seeking an experienced Construction Site Superintendent / Senior Site Superintendent to oversee day-to-day field operations on a large-scale commercial construction project located in Southampton, Suffolk County, New York.

This is a long-term opportunity for an experienced construction professional with a minimum of 10 years of commercial construction superintendent experience who is looking to grow with an established contractor.

The initial assignment will involve a major large-scale construction project in Southampton, with the expectation that the successful candidate will continue with Vezandio Contracting Corp. on future projects upon completion.

The ideal candidate will have at least 10 years of experience as a Commercial Construction Superintendent, with a proven background overseeing large commercial, institutional, hospitality, mixed-use, or similarly complex construction projects. The candidate must be comfortable managing multiple subcontractors, coordinating site operations, maintaining detailed project records, and working closely with project management, ownership, architects, engineers, inspectors, and other project stakeholders.

Vezandio Contracting Corp. performs construction work throughout Long Island, Westchester County, and the New York metropolitan area. Candidates should be willing to travel to and work on future projects throughout these areas as needed.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage and supervise daily construction activities and overall site operations.
• Coordinate and oversee multiple subcontractors and trades working simultaneously.
• Establish and maintain daily work schedules and coordinate sequencing between trades.
• Conduct and/or coordinate daily site safety meetings, toolbox talks, and safety procedures.
• Monitor site conditions and ensure subcontractors are performing work safely and in accordance with project requirements.
• Maintain accurate and organized daily construction reports, including manpower, work performed, site conditions, delays, issues, and equipment.
• Maintain visitor logs, subcontractor daily logs, delivery logs, inspection records, and other required site documentation.
• Coordinate and schedule material and equipment deliveries, including site access, unloading, staging, and coordination with active trades.
• Coordinate inspections and ensure the appropriate subcontractors are prepared for scheduled inspections.
• Identify conflicts, delays, and coordination issues in the field and communicate them promptly to the Project Manager.
• Review drawings and specifications and communicate field requirements to subcontractors.
• Monitor subcontractor manpower, productivity, quality, and progress.
• Coordinate site logistics, including access, staging areas, material storage, housekeeping, and temporary facilities.
• Participate in regular project meetings and provide accurate updates regarding field progress and outstanding issues.
• Work closely with the Project Manager, Vezandio company ownership, project ownership, architects, engineers, inspectors, and subcontractors.
• Assist with project scheduling and ensure field activities remain consistent with the overall project schedule.
• Document and communicate changes, unforeseen conditions, and potential delays.
• Maintain a professional, organized, and safe construction site.
• Assist with punch list, closeout, inspections, and turnover activities.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum 10 years of commercial construction experience, with significant experience as a Site Superintendent or Senior Superintendent.
• Proven track record overseeing large-scale commercial construction projects.
• Demonstrated experience with commercial, institutional, hospitality, mixed-use, or similarly complex projects.
• Proven ability to manage multiple subcontractors and trades simultaneously.
• Strong understanding of construction sequencing, scheduling, site logistics, and building operations.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, MEP, and construction drawings.
• Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
• Highly organized with excellent documentation and record-keeping skills.
• Ability to identify problems in the field and work with the Project Manager and project team to develop effective solutions.
• Proficiency with construction documentation and standard computer programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel. Experience with Procore or similar construction management software is a plus.
• Must be comfortable communicating directly with subcontractors, inspectors, consultants, ownership, and company management.
• Must be able to work independently and take ownership of day-to-day site operations.
• Must be willing to work on projects throughout Long Island, Westchester County, and the New York metropolitan area as company needs require.

SAFETY & CERTIFICATIONS

Candidates should possess safety training and certifications consistent with the requirements of the project and the responsibilities of a senior commercial construction superintendent in New York.

Preferred qualifications include:

• OSHA 30-Hour Construction
• Site Safety / SST training
• OSHA 10-Hour Construction
• First Aid / CPR
• Scaffold User/Handler training, where applicable
• Competent Person training, as applicable to the work being performed
• NYC DOB Site Safety-related training/certifications or equivalent, where applicable
• Additional construction safety certifications are a plus

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for a leader, not simply someone who monitors the site.

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining organization and accountability in a fast-paced construction environment, keeping subcontractors coordinated, ensuring site safety procedures are followed, maintaining accurate documentation, and communicating effectively with the entire project team.

The ability to work professionally with both field personnel and project ownership is essential.

We are particularly interested in candidates with 10+ years of commercial construction superintendent experience who are looking for a long-term position with a growing construction company, rather than a position limited to one project.

The initial project is located in Southampton, Suffolk County, NY. Upon completion of the initial project, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to transition to additional Vezandio projects throughout Long Island, Westchester County, and the New York metropolitan area, based on company needs and the candidate's experience.
