Job summary

Deffenbaugh Homes is seeking a detail oriented Staff Accountant to manage day-to-day accounting functions and support our construction operations. This position works closely with the Controller and Project Managers and will be responsible for maintaining accurate and timely financial information in Quickbooks and CoConstruct.

Responsibilities include AP/AR management, project billing, job costing, payroll backup, and ensuring proper coding and month-end close across projects.

Responsibilities

• Manage Accounts Payable, including entering and paying non-project bills, processing project bills and purchase orders, reviewing coding and approvals, paying project bills after customer payment, and maintaining the AP aging.
• Manage Accounts Receivable, including reviewing and reclassifying invoices, preparing deposits, posting payments, monitoring past due invoices and working with Project Managers on collections, and specialty job billing
• Review job costing after billing and work with Project Managers to ensure income and expenses are accurately coded and recorded in the correct month
• Review weekly timecards, calculate overtime, coordinate corrections with Project managers and push approved timecards to Quickbooks. Provide payroll back up as needed
• Maintain credit card receipts and transactions, including proper costing and follow up on missing documentation
• Manage lien waivers, including sending waivers with project checks and tracking outstanding waivers from subcontractors and vendors
• Work extensively in CoConstruct, including maintaining customers and projects, reviewing synced transactions, correcting coding, and supporting Project Managers with accounting related questions
• Support the Controller with financial reviews, accounting tasks, payroll backup, and process improvement
• Work with Project Managers to resolve billing, coding, job costing, and timecard issues and improve processes
• Assist with implementation of new construction management or accounting software and become proficient in new systems.
