Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a Sourcing Specialist for Construction to manage contracts, develop sourcing strategies, and drive cost reductions on Starship-related infrastructure projects. You will partner with internal stakeholders, negotiate with suppliers, and ensure compliance with procurement policies.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree and experience in construction procurement, with travel up to 20% and the ability to work extended hours to meet milestones.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Construction project management experience preferred.
• Experience in purchasing or procurement helpful.
• Experience in industrial engineering, construction management, and/or facilities management.
• Strong budget tracking and cost analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to travel up to 20% and work extended hours as needed.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a comprehensive contract management process that ensures successful project execution.
• Create sourcing strategies for assigned categories to reduce risk and meet targets for the purchasing department, including payment terms and cost savings.
• Maintain stakeholder relationships to create strategic sourcing models that optimize product/service value and drive continuous cost reduction.
• Communicate, manage, and drive compliance to category strategies.
• Identify and execute cost reduction projects with stakeholders and provide updates.
• Perform quantitative and business analyses to identify financial impacts of decisions and cost improvements.
• Collaborate to define SLAs and KPIs for suppliers and measure results.
• Conduct research, benchmarking, and market analysis for categories.
• Create contract documents with the legal department and manage contract performance.
• Interpret contract terms to fit business needs while mitigating risk.
• Maximize value and cost savings through strategic negotiations and supplier optimization.
• Drive year-over-year cost optimization by reducing usage and waste.
• Establish preferred suppliers for categories and streamline procurement processes from PO to pay.
• Develop programs to monitor supplier KPIs and performance.
• Place purchase orders and resolve blocked invoices for assigned categories.
• Lead efforts to reduce transaction counts and improve efficiency.
