Job summary

Adolfson & Peterson Construction is seeking a Site Safety Leader for a large vertical project in Brookings, SD. You will manage AP’s safety program on site, champion the Incident and Injury Free philosophy, provide safety trainings and ensure a safe environment for all team members.

The role requires coordinating with Superintendents and Project Managers, conducting inspections, and facilitating OSHA-related activities.

Qualifications

• Two-year or bachelor’s degree in industrial safety, safety management, or related field preferred
• 5 years minimum of directly related experience in a construction safety role as a safety professional
• Experience working through inspections and audits with state and local government agencies
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Word and Excel
• OSHA 30 and/or OSHA 510 certification preferred
• First Aid/CPR/AED Certification
• CHST (Construction Health and Safety Technician) Certificate or ability obtain within first 6 months
• Experience conducting safety trainings
• Competent in excavation, trenching, fall protection, confined space, silica and scaffolding
• Working knowledge of EHS standards and ability to communicate them

Responsibilities

• Take personal responsibility for working safely within an Incident and Injury Free (IIF) culture
• Collaborate to implement safety programs and ensure site safety
• Manage the safety program on an assigned project per org standards
• Conduct safety trainings and monitor training effectiveness
• Perform safety inspections and coordinate OSHA consultations
• Ensure compliance with corporate, state, and federal safety regulations
• Work with Superintendents, Project Managers, subcontractors, and owners on safety compliance
• Identify deficiencies or trends and communicate to project management
