Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Superintendent I - Construction to support field operations on commercial interior projects in downtown Chicago. You will assist in daily field activities, coordinate site progress, ensure safety, and align work with drawings and specifications.

The role emphasizes learning, collaboration with field leadership, and development of leadership and construction management skills on projects ranging from $1M to $10M+. Typical hours are 6am-2pm, on-site in Chicago.

Qualifications

8+ years of experience in commercial interior construction.
3+ years of experience in Chicago commercial interior projects.
Experience with Procore, Microsoft Projects, and Outbuild.
OSHA 30 certification (or willingness to obtain).
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.

Responsibilities

Assist with daily field operations under the direction of Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent.
Support tracking of daily work activities and production progress.
Maintain site organization, cleanliness, and basic safety standards.
Observe trade activities and report progress or issues to field leadership.
Verify work is being performed in accordance with drawings and specifications.
Participate in site walks to gain understanding of project execution.
Document field conditions, issues, and completed work.
Support implementation of established field processes and procedures.
Assist with manpower tracking and daily reporting.
Develop and maintain 3-week look-ahead schedules with trade partners.
Partner with Project Managers to maintain detailed project schedules.
Monitor critical path activities and long-lead items.
Create pull planning and phase planning sessions.
Monitor schedule performance and implement corrective actions as needed.
Coordinate deliveries, material staging, and site access.
Track progress of scheduled activities and communicate delays or conflicts to project leadership.
Assist in coordinating daily trade partner activities to support planned sequencing and workflow.
Assist with communication and coordination with trade partners and vendors.
Attend coordination and progress meetings and document key takeaways.
Support project execution from mobilization through closeout.
Track trade partner work progress and report performance concerns.
Support documentation for change orders and field directives.
Manage quality control process to ensure inspections are successful.
Follow all company safety policies and jobsite requirements.
Assist in conducting safety walks and identifying potential hazards.
Promote a safety-first mindset in daily activities.
Demonstrate willingness to learn and take direction from field leadership.
Support team coordination and communication efforts.
Maintain a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
Support collection of project data, photos, and updates for internal use.
