About The Role
We are seeking a results-driven and field-oriented
Outside Sales Representative to support our client’s business development efforts within the
Division 8 construction materials industry—specializing in
doors, frames, and architectural hardware. This is a
territory-based role that involves
direct engagement with commercial contractors, site visits, consultative sales, and ongoing customer relationship management.
The ideal candidate will be based in one of the listed locations and bring a strong foundation in
construction industry sales,
project coordination, and
technical product knowledge, particularly related to Division 8 specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and expand relationships with general contractors, subcontractors, builders, and project stakeholders within assigned territory
- Conduct onsite visits, job walks, and client meetings to assess project needs, present product solutions, and drive business development
- Review and interpret architectural drawings, blueprints, door and hardware schedules, and specifications to ensure alignment with project requirements
- Assist clients with product selection and provide expert advice on Division 8 offerings tailored to their technical and compliance needs
- Enter and manage customer orders accurately while coordinating closely with internal teams for timely delivery and installation
- Stay current on industry trends, building code updates, and new product innovations
- Participate in sales forecasting, pipeline tracking, and post-sale support to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction and long-term retention
Key Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of outside sales or B2B field experience, preferably in the Division 8 sector or building materials
- Knowledge of commercial construction environments, especially active job sites and contractor workflows
- Ability to read blueprints, specifications, and technical construction documents
- Confident in using basic measurement tools (e.g., tape measure) to verify jobsite conditions and hardware compatibility
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a strong customer-focused approach
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience with Comsense software is highly preferred
Preferred Backgrounds
- Sales professionals from commercial building supply, especially doors, frames, and hardware (DFH)
- Candidates with Division 8 specialty sales or independent rep agency experience
- Professionals familiar with the construction lifecycle and multi-stakeholder project coordination
