Job summary

Hourigan Construction is seeking a Safety Specialist to join our growing team. This role focuses on fostering a safe job site and upholding Hourigan's core values while ensuring compliance by employees and subcontractors.

You will lead safety training, conduct site inspections, develop procedures, manage PPE inventory, and support pre-construction safety planning across projects. Candidates with OSHA certifications and First Aid/CPR are preferred; willingness to work varied hours and travel may

Qualifications

• BS in Safety and Health or related degree, and/or equivalent experience, preferred
• 1-3 years of experience in Safety and Environmental Health in a Commercial Construction environment is preferred, but not required
• OSHA 30, OSHA 510, or OSHA 500 certification required
• First Aid/CPR/AED certifications required
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds
• Must be willing to work non-traditional hours, including early mornings and evenings, to meet project needs
• Work may be performed in outdoor environments and varying weather conditions
• Must be comfortable with computer use
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Power Point, Project, etc.)
• Tolerance for ambiguity and change in a high-speed environment

• Ability to climb stairs and endure temperature extremes

Responsibilities

• Support Hourigan’s safety culture by following safe work practices and procedures
• Train team members and business partners on critical safety procedures and expectations
• Conduct jobsite inspections and help identify findings with corrective actions
• Facilitate safety training and orientations, and first aid/CPR training
• Conduct or assist weekly safety meetings
• Participate in pre-construction safety planning for Hourigan projects
• Verify subcontractors training on applicable equipment
• Assist with development of site-specific safety procedures
• Confirm PPE issuance and manage PPE inventory
• Provide resources to ensure positive safety and health outcomes
• Support Hourigan SHMS objectives
