Job summary

Mortenson is seeking a Senior Safety Engineer I to implement the Zero Injury Safety program across multiple project sites and maintain a safe work environment for team members, subcontractors, and visitors.

The role requires extensive construction safety expertise, leadership in OSHA reporting, and collaboration with client safety personnel and unions. Travel up to 100% is expected, with base pay ranging based on location and office adjustments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in safety, occupational health, or equivalent.
• OSHA 500 and CHST certification are acceptable in lieu of a degree.
• Minimum of 10 years construction safety experience, including lead roles and hazard analyses.

Responsibilities

• Implement and administer safety programs at worksites, including site-specific safety activities and training programs.
• Document and track safety violations, conduct safety audits, and analyze loss control data.
• Lead OSHA reporting, monitor subcontractor activities, and review safety submittals.
• Record, monitor, and analyze safety, injury, and hazard statistics.
• Provide safety-related information, evaluate industrial hygiene concerns, and maintain knowledge of safety standards.
• Serve as a resource for safety issues, attend safety meetings, and assist with major incident analysis.
• Work with client safety personnel, union representatives, and insurance risk engineers.
• Ensure maintenance and inspection of safety equipment and build relationships with diverse backgrounds and organizational levels.
