Job summary

Edwards Electrical & Mechanical, Inc. in Indianapolis seeks a Director of Safety & Health to lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the company's safety program across construction sites and facilities.

You will partner with executives to embed safety into project planning, guide field leaders, set measurable goals, investigate incidents, and drive a proactive culture focused on prevention and compliance with OSHA standards.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive construction safety experience.
• Experience leading safety programs across active commercial, industrial, mechanical, electrical, or other complex construction environments.
• Strong working knowledge of OSHA construction standards and industry safety practices.
• Experience conducting jobsite inspections, audits, incident investigations, and root-cause analysis.
• Proven ability to work effectively with executives, project management, superintendents, foremen, and craft professionals.

Responsibilities

• Lead or oversee safety leadership and strategy across construction projects and company facilities.
• Establish and monitor safety goals, leading indicators, and corrective actions.
• Conduct jobsite visits, audits, inspections, and safety observations; ensure hazard controls are implemented.
• Collaborate with field leadership on JHAs, pre-task planning, and site safety plans.
• Investigate incidents and near-misses, identify root causes, and drive preventive actions.
• Develop and deliver safety training for employees and field supervisors.
• Maintain safety management systems, documentation, and reporting for regulatory compliance.
