Job summary

ESS, Inc. in Indianapolis, IN, seeks an experienced Construction Safety Manager (CSM) to lead project safety and serve as a key representative to the owner, contractors, and project stakeholders.

You will lead daily site safety activities, conduct inspections, document findings, assist with investigations, and develop site safety plans in line with OSHA requirements. Candidates must hold a credential such as CSP/CIH/ASP/ARM/CHST/OHST or a safety degree plus years of construction safety

Qualifications

• OSHA 500 Construction or OSHA 30-Hour Construction completed within the past 5 years.
• Current CPR, First Aid, AED, and BBP certification through Red Cross or equivalent.
• CSP/CIH/ASP/ARM/CHST/OHST or similar credential with 3 years construction safety experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Safety Management or related field with 3 years construction safety experience.
• 5+ years of relevant construction safety experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily site safety and health activities, inspections, and hazard assessments.
• Conduct safety meetings, maintain agendas, minutes, action items, and attendance records.
• Document inspection findings and track corrective actions through closeout.
• Assist with incident investigations, root-cause analysis, and required reporting.
• Develop and implement site-specific safety plans, policies, JSAs/JHAs, and procedures.
• Maintain knowledge of OSHA Construction/General Industry requirements.
• Provide ongoing safety training, coaching, and compliance guidance to site personnel.
• Work with owner, contractors, subcontractors, and leadership to drive a strong safety culture.
