Job summary

Benchmark Utility Services in Fredericksburg, VA is seeking a Safety Coordinator to safeguard personnel and assets by enforcing OSHA standards, conducting risk assessments, and developing safety programs for project teams.

You will lead hazard mitigation, monitor performance metrics, and drive continuous improvement to maintain compliance and reduce workplace risks; the role requires strong communication and leadership in a fast-paced construction environment.

Qualifications

• Requires 4+ years of relevant construction safety experience or demonstrated construction safety and trade experience.
• Agile, energetic, data driven approach to achieving objectives while balancing short- and long-term goals.
• OSHA 500 certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervises and ensures the safety of employees, trade partners, and the public.
• Enforces safety programs and federal/state/local safety standards.
• Guides safety staff and assists in their development.
• Directs daily operations and identifies opportunities to improve safety regulations.
• Facilitates third party safety reviews including OSHA.
• Conducts risk assessments to minimize accidents and health hazards.
• Provides support to project teams on safety matters, including investigations and reporting.
• Partners with field supervision to ensure hazard mitigation in project planning.
• Develops Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) for trenching and pipe laying.
• Presents safety information and documentation to GCs.
• Keeps up to date with industry best practices and regulatory changes.
