Job summary

The Safety Coordinator at Benchmark Utility Services safeguards workforce and assets by enforcing regulations, assessing risks, investigating incidents, and crafting safety programs. Qualifications

• Four or more years of construction safety experience with an undergraduate degree in safety and health (or related discipline)
• Agile, energetic, data driven approach to achieving objectives while balancing short term and long-term goals

Responsibilities

• Supervises and ensures the safety of employees, trade partners, and public
• Enforces corporate and project safety programs as well as federal, state, and local safety standards
• Guides safety staff and assists in their development
• Directs daily operations and identifies opportunities to improve safety regulations
• Facilitates third party safety reviews including OSHA
• Conducts risk assessments to minimize workplace accidents and health hazards
• Provides support to project teams on safety-related matters, including accident investigation and reporting
• Partners with field supervision to ensure safety hazard mitigation in project planning
• Develops and catalogs Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) specific to trenching and pipe laying
• Presents safety information to General Contractors
• Keeps up to date with industry best practices and regulatory changes
• Investigates accidents and near-misses and recommends corrective actions
• Performs other duties as assigned
