Job summary

Hatzel & Buehler Inc. is seeking a Safety Intern to support the site safety team on active construction and maintenance projects in the Washington, D.C. area.

You will assist with daily inspections, hazard identification, and the implementation of safety procedures in compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements. The role involves data collection, incident reporting, and helping with accident investigations under supervision.

Qualifications

• Knowledge or coursework in Health & Safety, Occupational Health and Environment Health and Safety (EHS).
• Willingness to work on active job sites and travel locally.
• Interest in accident investigation and supporting safety training initiatives.
• Pursuing or recently completed a degree in Safety, Environmental Science, Occupational Health, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily site safety inspections on active projects.
• Identify hazards and assist in implementing safety procedures.
• Support incident and near-miss reporting and investigations under supervision.
• Assist in preparation and delivery of safety training materials and toolbox talks.
