Job summary

The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company in the Washington, DC area is offering an internship to gain hands-on experience in construction environmental health and safety (EH&S). Interns will report to an EH&S Manager and learn how EH&S programs are managed on active construction projects.

Ideal candidates are pursuing a BS in engineering, engineering technology, or construction management and possess strong communication and teamwork skills.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor of Science in an engineering discipline, engineering technology or construction management.
• Strong professional communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Commitment to teamwork and safety culture across the project team.

Responsibilities

• Assist in safety onboarding and safety meeting processes.
• Assist in performing regular job site inspections to identify hazards and verify corrective actions.
• Assist in evaluating planning/permits such as Hot Work, Confined Space, Fall Protection, Excavation, Steel Erection, Energized Work, and Pre-cast Tilt-Up for mitigation.
• Assist in incident investigations including interviews, data collection, photos and proper documentation.
