Job summary

Turner Construction in Dallas seeks an Intern to support safety and loss control on construction projects or in the office. You will assist with implementing safety programs, reporting violations, coordinating safety duties, and contributing to OSHA recordkeeping.

The role requires enrollment in a degree program in Occupational Safety & Health, Engineering, or related field with at least one year of coursework, plus strong communication and organizational skills.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a college/university degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Engineering, or related field with at least 1 year completed.
• Basic knowledge of safety and environmental principles and techniques.
• Desire to learn construction management and industry practices.
• Flexible to work standard hours and overtime as needed.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Accountability for own actions and tasks.
• Proactive, curious, and eager to learn.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• High attention to detail and organization.
• Proficient with computers, MS Office, and collaboration tools.
• Limited travel may be required; reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Assist in implementing Building LIFE safety program on projects or offices.
• Identify and report safety violations and unsafe practices.
• Coordinate safety duties for committees, preconstruction meetings, and toolbox talks.
• Assist with safety training and orientations.
• Review subcontractor safety programs for compliance.
• Promote safe work practices in line with regulations and owner requirements.
• Assist with drug screening administration and recordkeeping.
• Participate in preconstruction meetings and document discussions.
• Conduct jobsite inspections and develop inspection summaries.
• Maintain safety records such as Job Hazard Analyses and incident metrics.
• Assist with worker orientation participation tracking.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
