About the Position

The Project Safety Intern will play a crucial role in ensuring a safe work environment on construction sites. This position involves implementing and overseeing the safety program, conducting training, and monitoring compliance with safety requirements. The intern will work closely with experienced professionals to uphold the company’s commitment to safety and contribute to the overall success of construction projects.

Responsibilities
  • Instill Safety as a top priority by monitoring and maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Conduct training such as safety meetings, new hire trainings, and toolbox talks
  • Monitor all construction work for compliance and safety requirements
  • Help with audits/site inspections and quality control tasks
  • Conduct risk assessments, job hazard analyses, and other evaluations, proactively identifying potential safety risks
  • Assist with preparing project documentation, reports, and presentations
  • Collaborate with the project team(s) to ensure that safety protocols are followed
  • Work collaboratively and create relationships with project team members, trade partners, vendors and clients
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
Qualifications
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental and Safety Management, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Strong interest in safety and the construction industry and willingness to learn.
  • Basic knowledge of construction processes, tools, and equipment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work outdoors and on construction sites as required.
  • Detail-oriented and proactive approach to tasks.
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License.
Location and Hours
  • Wichita, KS (Headquarters), Oklahoma, or Texas division(s)
  • Position is full time, 40 hours per week beginning late May and ending mid-August
  • Position may require work related travel from base location to any of our other Markets, including but not limited to Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas, Colorado and/or Tennessee
