Job summary

Granite Construction seeks a Safety professional to support the administration of the Safety and Health Management System (SHMS) at an assigned location. The role entails ensuring compliance with state and federal safety regulations, coordinating with regulatory agencies, and promoting a strong safety culture among employees in a high production construction environment.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree in Safety or related field and 3+ years of safety responsibilities within

Qualifications

• Knowledge of applicable state and federal safety and health regulations.
• Demonstrates good verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
• Strong organizational, follow through and time management skills.

Responsibilities

• Support with company team members, owner representatives, regulatory agencies, clinics, medical/testing facilities to ensure effective working relationships.
• Promote engagement with the safety program and incident prevention efforts to reduce at risk behaviors.
• Assist in the implementation of safety programs to meet strategic goals.
• Perform inspections, observations and audits to reduce incidents and protect employees.
• Assist in safety meetings and training to improve hazard awareness and understanding.
• Participate in regulatory inspections and investigations to ensure compliance.
• Assist in job hazard analyses to identify hazards and controls.
• Investigate near misses, incidents and claims to protect company interests.
• Perform periodic checks to ensure corrective actions are completed and documented.
