Job summary

Granite Construction is seeking a Safety Specialist to administer and support the Company’s Safety and Health Management System (SHMS). The role ensures compliance with state and federal safety regulations at an assigned location and collaborates with site teams to maintain a safe work environment.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in Safety or a related field and at least 3+ years of safety experience in construction or a related industry, with strong communication and

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Occupational Health, or a related field preferred.
• Experience with safety programs and SHMS is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Support company teams, owner reps, regulators, clinics to ensure effective working relationships.
• Promote engagement with the safety program and incident prevention efforts to reduce at-risk behaviors.
• Assist in implementing safety programs to meet strategic goals.
• Perform and document inspections, observations and audits to reduce incidents and safeguard employee health.
• Assist in safety meetings and training to improve knowledge of hazards and risks.
• Participate in regulatory inspections and investigations to ensure compliance and protect company interests.
• Assist in developing and reviewing job hazard analyses to identify hazards and control measures.
• Assist in investigating near misses, incidents and claims to protect company interests.
• Perform periodic checks to ensure corrective actions are completed and documented.
