Job summary

Coakley & Williams Construction, LLC is seeking a Safety Engineer Intern for Summer 2027 at the Main Office in Bethesda, MD. This role offers exposure to OH&S management in a construction setting and opportunities to participate in safety programs and reporting.

The intern will support safety managers, conduct site safety orientations, assist with documentation, and interact with project stakeholders to gather data and insights.

Qualifications

• Be a rising sophomore, junior, or senior pursuing a degree in Construction Safety, Occupational Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, Construction Management, Construction Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent documentation and organizational skills.
• Ability to demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness.

Responsibilities

• Provide support to safety managers in hazard identification and controls, site safety orientations, coaching, reviewing safety docs and creating reports.
• Develop understanding of managerial processes and safety administration at site and HQ.
• Assist with document control, submittals, meeting minutes, inspection reports, observations, and incident investigations using PM software.
• Engage daily with Project Teams, Subcontractors, Architects, Engineers, Inspectors, and Owners.
• Research and gather statistics for periodic and one-time reports.
• Gain understanding of technology and software to complete projects.
