Job summary

JT Wimsatt Contracting Co., Inc. is seeking a Safety Director to lead safety across Southern California construction operations, including Los Angeles and San Diego counties.

The role oversees the safety department, develops programs, and ensures Cal/OSHA compliance while partnering with leadership and field teams. The position focuses on safety policy, training, audits, and incident investigations, with a strong emphasis on continuous improvement, data-driven insights, and a proactive safety

Qualifications

• 5+ years’ experience managing and leading a safety team.
• 15+ years construction experience with increasing safety leadership responsibility.
• Active OSHA 30 required and CHST/CSP preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in EH&S or related field preferred.
• Experience with safety management platforms and fleet safety programs.

Responsibilities

• Lead the safety department and develop company-wide safety programs.
• Ensure OSHA/Cal/OSHA compliance and incident investigations.
• Monitor KPIs, conduct safety audits, and drive continuous improvement.
• Manage training, IIPP, and emergency response planning.
• Oversee workers’ comp claims, return-to-work programs, and vendor relations.
