Job description

The Safety Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that all areas under their control meet the required standards as set out in company policies as well as any applicable government agencies and regulatory compliance. Responsibilities also include demonstrating proper use of protective equipment, conducting investigations as required, and writing safety plans and reports for job sites.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Provide, inspect, and demonstrate the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE); ensure such PPE meets ANSI standards.
  2. Operate air monitoring equipment and determine accurate results for field operations.
  3. Ensure all areas under their control meet required standards as set in the company Safety, Health, and Environmental Policy and any OSHA, MSHA, EPA, or other applicable regulations.
  4. Assist in preliminary diagnosis of injuries as part of emergency response.
  5. Conduct Incident Investigations in addition to regular Safety, Health, and Environmental Inspections; report and ensure deficiencies are abated on time.
  6. Report hazards and deficiencies to supervisor and Operational Manager.
  7. Identify, recommend, and ensure employees receive appropriate training.
  8. Write and implement health and safety plans for job sites regulated by OSHA/MSHA, EPA, and OSHA-regulated hazardous waste site work.
  9. This position requires at least 15% travel by air; the majority of work hours will be spent on job sites in drilling and heavy construction environments.
REQUIREMENTS
  1. Minimum 5 years of experience in the safety field.
  2. Heavy Industry/Construction experience required.
  3. Knowledge of OSHA, Safety Programs, State Safety Programs, MSHA, EPA, and other applicable agencies.
  4. Knowledge of Excavation, Fall Protection, Confined Space, Lock-Out Tag out, Scaffolding, PPE, Stairways and Ladders, Rigging, and Crane Safety.
  5. Trainer in OSHA 30-hour/OSHA 10-hour, Trainer First-Aid/CPR/AED.
  6. Exceptional organizational, leadership, data analysis, and communication skills (verbal and written).
  7. Bilingual ability.

Environment: Work is performed mainly in indoor and outdoor settings with exposure to various weather and temperature conditions, with travel from site to site.

Physical: The role requires sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate weights; to operate equipment requiring fine hand coordination; to travel using various transportation modes; and to communicate verbally to exchange information.
