Job summary

Hoffman Construction Co of America is seeking a Risk Engineer to join its Risk Management team. This in-person role will partner with project leadership and carrier risk teams to identify, assess, and mitigate risk across Hoffman projects, ensuring improved outcomes.

The position reports to Corporate Risk Manager and is based in Seattle, WA or Portland, OR. The role requires strong analytics, communication, and a solid background in construction risk, with experience in SDI programs and risk

Qualifications

• 5+ years in risk management, risk assessment, or related field, preferably in construction/engineering.
• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management or related field.
• Deep familiarity with construction lifecycle, project scheduling, subcontractor management, and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate emerging project risks with project teams (Executives, Project Managers, Superintendents, Operations).
• Contribute to Project HPEPs and provide risk-based input on execution strategies, procurement, staffing, and quality planning.
• Guide on high-risk project situations including subcontractor issues, financial distress, quality concerns, schedule recovery, and major claims.
• Interface with project teams on SDI enrolled projects to identify real-time risks and health of subcontractors.
• Identify lessons learned and best practices for cross-company adoption.
• Review and audit active SDI programs for compliance with Risk Mitigation Plans.
• Support project and subcontractor risk reviews and SDI carrier data gathering.
• Develop dashboards, KPIs, and executive reporting; monitor SDI/CCIP insurance performance.
