Job summary

Harris Construction is seeking a Construction Project Manager Intern for Summer 2027 in South Bend, IN. This internship provides hands-on experience turning classroom lessons into real-world construction skills and exposes interns to all project phases from pre-job through closeout.

Ideal candidates are current students in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related fields with strong math, analytical, and communication skills, and a keen interest in pursuing a career in

• Must be a current student pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
• Strong interest in pursuing a career in construction industry and project management.
• Ability to read and comprehend construction documents.
• Demonstrated proficiency of math and analytical skills.
• Must have strong interpersonal skills with good verbal and written communication while working in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Exposure to all project phases from start to finish, including pre-job, during construction and closeout tasks.
• Assist with estimating, contracts, permits and insurance certificates during pre-job.
• Support safety, purchasing, submittals, material tracking, field personnel tracking, productivity tracking, and change order submittals during construction.
• Assist with project closeout documents such as O&M manuals, as-record drawings and warranties.

Your role as a Project Manager Intern

Our mission is to provide college students with on the job experience and knowledge of the construction process. As a Project Manager intern you will be given hands on opportunities to turn classroom lessons into real life skills in the construction industry.

Throughout the internship, you will have expose to all aspects of a project, start to finish, including the following:

Pre-Job:

• Estimating
• Job contracts
• Permits and insurance certificates

During Construction:

• Safety
• Purchasing
• Submittals
• Tracking materials & equipment
• Field personal tracking
• Productivity tracking
• Change order submittals and tracking

Job Closeout:

• Project closeout O&M manuals
• As-recording drawings warranties

Pay Range

$22.34 - $33.51
