Job summary

Harris is seeking a Project Manager Intern to gain hands-on exposure to the construction process, from planning and estimating through project closeout.

You will read construction documents, track materials and submittals, assist with safety compliance, and learn procurement practices on real projects, collaborating with a team to deliver results.

This Summer 2027 internship is based in South Bend, Indiana.

Qualifications

• Must be a current student in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
• Strong interest in pursuing a career in construction project management.
• Ability to read and comprehend construction documents; good math and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Pre-Job tasks: estimating jobs, permits, and insurance certificates.
• During construction: safety, purchasing, submittals, tracking materials and equipment, field personnel tracking, productivity tracking, change order submittals.
• Job closeout: project closeout, O&M manuals, as-recording drawings, warranties.

Your role as a Project Manager Intern

Our mission is to provide college students with on the job experience and knowledge of the construction process. As a Project Manager intern you will be given hands on opportunities to turn classroom lessons into real life skills in the construction industry. Throughout the internship, you will have expose to all aspects of a project, start to finish, including the following:

• Pre-Job: Estimating Job contracts Permits and insurance certificates
• During Construction: Safety Purchasing Submittals Tracking materials & equipment Field personal tracking Productivity tracking Change order submittals and tracking
• Job Closeout: Project closeout O&M manuals As-recording drawings warranties

What we're looking for in you

Must be a current student working toward degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field Strong interest in pursuing a career in the construction industry and project management Ability to read and comprehend construction documents Demonstrated proficiency of math and analytical skills Must have strong interpersonal skills with good verbal and written communication while working in a team environment

Pay Range: $22.34 - $33.51 The actual salary offer will vary by candidate based on a wide range of factors such as specific skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
