Job description

Position Summary

We are seeking a hands-on Construction Project Manager to lead renovation, maintenance, and capital improvement projects throughout the Chicago area and Wisconsin. This role is responsible for managing projects from initial planning and scoping through completion while maintaining a strong presence in the field.

The ideal candidate is a builder and problem solver who is equally comfortable coordinating teams, managing timelines, ordering materials, and stepping in to help complete work when needed. This is not a desk-only project management role. Some days may involve swinging a hammer, assembling materials, troubleshooting field conditions, or completing punch-list items. Other days may focus on coordinating contractors, managing schedules, sourcing materials, and ensuring projects stay on track.

Key Responsibilities
  • Scope and plan construction, renovation, and maintenance projects.
  • Develop project budgets, timelines, and material requirements.
  • Coordinate and manage an in-house construction team across multiple projects.
  • Schedule, direct, and oversee outside contractors and specialty vendors as needed.
  • Order materials, equipment, and supplies while managing project costs.
  • Hold teams accountable to project schedules, deadlines, and quality standards.
  • Identify and resolve project challenges before they impact timelines or budgets.
  • Assist with project execution, field work, punch lists, installations, repairs, and other hands‑on tasks when needed.
  • Maintain organized project documentation, schedules, and budgets.
  • Coordinate inspections, permits, and project closeout activities.
  • Ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard of quality.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of construction, facilities, renovation, or project management experience.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, tools, materials, and building systems.
  • Experience leading teams and coordinating multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to read plans, specifications, and construction documents.
  • Experience managing budgets, purchasing materials, and scheduling work.
  • Strong organizational and problem‑solving skills.
  • Self‑motivated with a high level of ownership and accountability.
  • Comfortable working both in the field and in a project management capacity.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel throughout the Chicago area and Wisconsin.
Preferred Experience
  • Commercial construction
  • Clubhouse, hospitality, or recreation facility renovations
  • Restaurant or retail build‑outs
  • Facilities maintenance and capital projects
  • Managing both in‑house teams and subcontractors
What Success Looks Like
  • Projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget.
  • In‑house teams and vendors are organized, productive, and accountable.
  • Materials arrive when needed and projects maintain momentum.
  • Issues are addressed quickly and solutions are implemented effectively.
  • Work is completed with a high level of craftsmanship and attention to detail.
  • Team members respect your leadership because you are willing to do whatever the project requires, whether that means leading from the front or pitching in alongside the crew.
Compensation & Benefits
  • Competitive salary based on experience
  • Performance‑based bonus opportunities
  • Vehicle allowance or company vehicle
  • Health benefits
  • Paid time off
  • Professional development opportunities

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building, fixing, improving, and leading projects from start to finish. We are looking for a hands‑on leader who takes ownership, keeps projects moving, and isn't afraid to jump in wherever needed to get the job done.
