Engtal partners with a Columbus-based General Contractor to recruit a Project Manager for a diverse portfolio of commercial projects. The role offers ownership across ground-up and renovation work, with visibility to leadership in a small, collaborative team.

The successful candidate will manage preconstruction to closeout, handle RFIs, submittals, and change orders, and support budgeting and forecasting while advancing client relationships and project delivery.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of commercial construction experience.
• Bachelor's degree in CM or related field is preferred.
• Experience in PM/APM/PE roles with ownership potential.
• Ground-up and renovation exposure valued, plus diverse environments.
• Strong budgeting, scheduling, RFIs, submittals, change orders, and coordination.
• Excellent communication and collaboration with field/office teams.

Responsibilities

• Manage projects from preconstruction through turnover and closeout.
• Own RFIs, submittals, change orders, pay apps, docs, and subcontractor coordination.
• Support budgeting, buyout, scope review, cost tracking and forecasting.
• Partner with Superintendents on schedule, logistics, quality, and delivery.
• Maintain communication with owners, architects, engineers, subs, and leadership.
• Identify risks and drive solutions to keep work moving.
• Build and maintain project schedules and milestones.
• Take increasing ownership of project financials and client relationships.

Our client is a growing Columbus-based General Contractor looking to add a Project Manager to its team. They deliver a mix of ground-up and renovation projects across commercial, industrial, warehouse, office, retail, and other sectors throughout Central Ohio.

This could be a strong fit for either an established Project Manager or an experienced Assistant Project Manager / Senior Project Engineer ready to take the next step into greater project ownership.

The team is smaller and highly collaborative, giving Project Managers strong visibility with leadership and the opportunity to take meaningful ownership without getting lost inside a large corporate structure.

What You'll Be Doing

• Manage projects from preconstruction / buyout through turnover and closeout
• Own RFIs, submittals, change orders, pay applications, project documentation, and subcontractor coordination
• Support budgeting, buyout, scope review, cost tracking, and forecasting
• Partner closely with Superintendents on schedule, logistics, quality, and project execution
• Maintain strong communication with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and internal leadership
• Identify project risks and drive solutions to keep work moving efficiently
• Build and maintain project schedules and coordinate key milestones
• Take increasing ownership of project financials, client relationships, and overall delivery

What They're Looking For

• 4+ years of commercial construction experience
• Experience in a Project Manager, Assistant Project Manager, Project Engineer, or similar project management role
• Exposure to ground-up construction strongly valued, but candidates with strong renovation, tenant improvement, or complex commercial project experience will also be considered
• Experience across commercial, industrial, warehouse, healthcare, education, retail, multifamily, office, or similar construction environments
• Working knowledge of budgeting, scheduling, RFIs, submittals, change orders, subcontractor coordination, and project documentation
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with both field and office teams
• Procore or similar construction management software experience preferred
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred, but equivalent construction experience will be considered
